An elegant wedding reception venue in Oxford
There is something rather special about a wedding reception here at Rhodes House. When you hold your wedding here, the House is yours for the day. There is none of the anonymity of a hotel. No jostling with suitcases in the foyer and no prospect of bumping into people who are not your guests.
Rhodes House is where your perfect day, imagination and history entwine; all this happens within a private and tranquil space, which provides you with an understated yet elegant backdrop for the occasion. Outside you’ll discover our walled English garden, which catches the sun from early morning to late evening – perfect for photography and quiet moments. You might even have to pinch yourself to believe you are now right in the heart of Oxford – very close to both the Bodleian Library and Sheldonian Theatre.
We never forget this is your wedding and your day. That it is just the way you want it, matters to us, therefore our events organiser is on hand to support you with help and advice as you plan your day. It can be as much or as little as you require. Making your day an unforgettable experience is our sole aim and we’ve handpicked partners who share our enthusiasm.

To arrange your wedding or civil partnership ceremony at Rhodes House, please contact the Oxford Registrar’s Office on 0845 1295900 (select option 3) for costs and procedures. Please note: They are only able to confirm a Registrar’s booking for your ceremony at Rhodes House once a firm hire booking has been made with us.
Receptions
Rhodes House is one of Oxford’s best-kept secrets, and the rooms available to hire for wedding receptions are also just that little bit more special than other wedding locations.
Offering quite possibly the most exclusive venue for weddings in the City, this historic address is where your dreams really do come true. The magic starts as soon as you cross the threshold, where belief is suspended and the spectacular entrance hall, known as The Rotunda, sets the scene, never failing to inspire gasps of wonderment. And so the magic continues…
Exclusive hire of Rhodes House means that your guests can wander freely from room to room. In the warmer months, you can mingle in the walled English country garden, sipping something chilled and lovely while listening to live music.
Depending on your catering requirements, Rhodes House can cater for up to 200 wedding guests in the Milner Hall, 60 in the Beit Room and 50 in the Jameson Room. For larger numbers, or perhaps for entertainment, a marquee can be placed outside in the walled garden. Please just contact us for details or to arrange a visit.
Venue Hire Fees:
- £6000.00 – Monday to Thursday
- £7800.00 – Friday, Saturday and Sunday
This gives you access to Rhodes House from 0900 through to midnight and exclusive use of the three function rooms, the gardens and Rhodes House staffing.
Ceremonies Only:
- £1200.00 – Monday – Friday
One hour wedding receptions following ceremonies on Monday – Friday can be arranged for an additional hire charge of £600
